Projects
These are all the projects I have been involved in, with more to come!
Recyclacy

Game Project 1 - Recyclacy, Unity - 4 weeks
Description
An eco-conscious game where you get to play as a sticky ball of gum. Pick up and recycle trash for points. Try to earn as high a score as possible before time runs out!
My Contribution
In this project I had the role of making UI and some other small features, the UI programmer. Most of the work was removed since it wasn't clear on what sort of indication the UI helped or we didn't have time to fully implement every feature we wanted to add into the game.
My Takeaway
Since I was very inexperienced I didn't have a very impactive role on the programming side however it was still an enjoyable experience and I did learn much about Unity and UI in general, mostly thanks to the other programmers. I do wish I made my UI more clear or talked more with the designer handling UI to make it easier to understand what everything meant and how it would impact our game.
Amalgamtions

Game Project 2 - Amalgamations, Unity - 3 weeks
Description
Play as a hungry flesh cube from outer space. KILL, EAT and ADD PARTS to your fleshy body to survive. As a hungry carnivore from outer space you arrive to planet earth. Looking for flesh to feast on, you decide to beam down. Once on ground you find yourself in an abandoned zoo filled with nuclear waste and hostile mutant animals.
My Contributions
In this project I was the UI Programmer and did help the other programmers. I did very small work on the enemy such as stats, but other than that I mostly worked on UI and the touch screen joystick. The touch screen joystick was very hard to do for me as a beginner, but I am happy that I challenged myself to do it and even though it was stressful at the end, I feel like I learned a lot by doing it. Doing UI for mobile was also an eye opening experience since you had to create it for every different mobile in mind.
My Takeaway
This project was incredibly stressful which made it a very unenjoyable experience however it did teach me a lot about myself and what to improve on in the future. The thing I learned about this game project was the fact that mobile is incredibly difficult to work with and that there are so much that goes unnoticed when I play mobile games, and with this only being my second game to code and the first time ever creating a mobile game, made it way harder and trickier to work with.
Two Deep

Game Project 3 - Two Deep, Unreal - 7 weeks
Description

Trying to minimize the damage, this spaceship has crashed on the bottom of an ocean planet and is waiting for rescue. Now, will you survive the absolute darkness and trap the alien back into his cage... or will they only find your corpses among the wreckage?
Try your luck. See if you can actually see in the absolute darkness.
My Contribution
- Interaction System: I was in charge of creating every interactable within the game, such as the battery, keycard etc. This system was created by having the player have a collision box that acted as a line to be able to recognize what interactable it was, which then ran it's own code.
- Saving system: At specific events the game would save and you would be able to come back to the game at the same position and the game would remember what doors you have opened and what interactable's you have either used up or interacted with. The saving system used the Unreal save file system.
My Takeaway
Out of every game project, this was the most enjoyable. The team was great, lots of passionate, creative and social people. since we worked in Unreal, the access to blueprints helped us really push forward, be more creative and have a better workflow compared to writing code since the programming team was new to programming. With us having a lot more time compared to previous game projects, gave us more freedom and polish the game before release which made it even more enjoyable.
